Vareuse Project
Spring 2023
This project explores hierarchy between humans and sea creatures: the hunters becoming the hunted. The tone for this piece pivots around old myths, drawings and stories of fishermen and the sea creatures they encountered/confronted. The use of the the varuese represents fishermen and the large envelopping fabric represents the sea and its creatures. The harsh geometrical shapes of the vareuse contrast with the fluid, circular and voluminous shapes of the sea.
